The Story Behind

Bang Bang

Hi, my name is

Charlie - Im 41, a Mama & Creator …

…you can call me Charlie!

A bit about me!

Hello and thank you for visiting my website. Firstly I am very lucky to be a Mama and i have my fur babies too! I moved from the city after many years back to the countryside of North Lanarkshire where i am now based.

I actually trained and worked as a professional dancer for many years. I loved my job travelling the world and being creative. I have a very colourful story so feel free to ask me when you are next in.

Dance will always be a part of my life and I’m lucky enough to still be delivering outreach work in Education and communities around central Scotland and also offer my unique services for bespoke first dance lesson for all of you uber cool couples getting hitched. And private lessons for dancers. All in Studio Bang Bang.

Choreographing Scottish Rock sensations ‘Vukovi’ has been and adventure and i cant wait to continue to level up the expectations and start more trends in the scene with Janine again this year. My Choreographic training and experience also lends a hand on set for models so although may think the two services are maybe a tad random and disconnected, for me they go hand in hand. for my clients too.

My Beauty career started 12 years ago when I began representing cosmetic and skin care brands during my off touring periods in the dance world.

Not before long there wasn’t a company that hadn’t requested me to work for them on their latest product launch. I loved the versatility of working with these elite brands as it allowed me to gain a broad product knowledge and time to really get to know the market.
Chanel, Ysl, Lancome, Christian Dior, Georgia Armani, Creme de la mer, Estee Lauder, Kiels, Urban Decay, Gerlaine, Origins, Nars, Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier, Hermes and La prairie to name a few!

It wasn’t until TOM FORD announced that they would be launching a make up range that I decided to stop touring for good and dedicate my time to this new found love for the beauty industry.

It was so inspiring working for “Mr Ford”. He is a creative genius and I loved everything about his brand, especially his passion for creating an elite, one-of-a-kind customer service. I spent 5 YEARS representing the brand as a specialist. The job was fast paced, fashionable, innovative and had extremely high standards. They were constantly thriving and expanding and would send me down to London to keep me in the best possible most up to date training and education. They wanted the specialists to be complete experts across the board. Make Up, Skin Care and Fragrance. It really was the most prestigious and sought after brand in the world.

My reputation within the brand grew quickly and I established myself as the Go-to artist for many Tom Ford Clients attending awards ceremonies, Fashion Launches and Tv & Film premiers. Most of these clients are still my clients 12 years on.

After my daughter was born summer of 2014 and I needed to be at home more, my journey as a self employed artist began. The seed had been sown in my head already for Bang Bang Beauty but I needed to gain some salon environment experience first.  Thats then I joined Team Onyx.

ONYX was a fantastic platform for me as a self employed artist. For 3 years I worked alongside some of the best make up artists in the country and even world!

My time here really taught me a lot about myself and it certainly confirmed what I wanted for my own brand. I was passionate about the customer experience and like my time in Tom Ford I wanted to be a specialist in many aspects of the industry: Training, Education, Salon, Tv & Film, Editorial and of course Bridal.

I found the perfect environment (Alchemy) and launched Bang Bang in December 2017. 21/2 years later and Bang Bang Beauty has just been awarded the title of BEST MAKE UP SALON in The Scottish Make Up Awards.

Development has brought us to where we are now. Studio Bang Bang.

I really hope that you enjoy having a browse and getting to know me as an artist. I look forward to welcoming you when its safe to do so at the salon. If you have any questions at all please get in touch. In the meantime take care of yourself and each other.

Peace & Love
Charlie x

Where did the name come from?

Flower Power - Photograph by Bernie Boston  21 Oct 1967 - Taken during the “March on The Pentagon”

This Pultzier Prize nominated Photograph just inspired me so much.
It shows a Vietnam War protestor placing a flower into the barrel of a rifle held by a soldier of the Military Police Battalion.
A moment of love and peace in a chaotic and sometimes very cruel world.
This is what I wanted Bang Bang Beauty to be a haven for clients to take time from their busy chaotic lives where they would feel relaxed and cared for in a peaceful and positive environment.

A Beautiful Act

What about your slogan?

“MAKE UP | NOT WAR”

BANG BANG BEAUTY GLASGOW MUA MAKE UP ARTIST BEST BRIDAL_4.jpg

Derived from the anti war slogan “Make love, not War” commonly associated again with the American counterculture or “Hippies” of the 1960’s. It was originally used by those in opposition to the Vietnam War but has been used in many other anti-war contexts around the world till this day. Make Up & Beauty aren’t going to save the worlds problems and really shouldn’t be taken so seriously. What it can do though is bring an artist and client together. It forms relationships, trust, confinement, fun, laughter and empowerment. It’s only lipstick but it can change your self confidence, your mood and even how you hold yourself. If I can help my stressed out client talk through her tense day, get her laughing and she leaves feeling the best version of herself too then my job is done and worth doing.

Peace & Love only here
